Terms of Service

Effective 14 August 2026 · Version 1.2

These terms are a contract between you and Blopus Labs LLC. They cover the Blopus search API, the MCP server, the SDKs, the customer console and the website. Please read them before you create an account.

The short version. You pay a flat monthly or annual price for a set number of searches. Your usage is hard capped, so we never send you a surprise bill. You may use Blopus commercially on any paid plan. We run our own crawler and index of publicly available web pages, and we return links and short extracts. You are responsible for what you do with the results. Our contact details are at the end of this page.

1. Who we are

Blopus is operated by Blopus Labs LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Blopus", "we", "us", "our"). Our registered address is listed in the Contact section. "You" means the person or organization that creates an account or uses the service.

2. Accepting these terms

By creating an account, using an API key, or using the service in any way, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorized to bind that company.

You must be at least 18 years old to open an account.

3. The service

Blopus provides programmatic access to a web search index that we build and operate ourselves. The service includes:

We build our index with our own crawler. We do not resell results from other search engines.

4. Accounts and API keys

5. Plans, pricing and billing

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any sales tax or VAT, which is calculated at checkout where it applies.

PlanMonthlyAnnualIncluded searches
Hobby$9 / month$7 / month, billed $84 yearly3,000 per month
Vibe Coder$35 / month$29 / month, billed $348 yearly15,000 per month
Agentic Pro$119 / month$99 / month, billed $1,188 yearly60,000 per month
Top-up$5 one time1,000 extra searches

Payments are handled by Stripe. Checkout is hosted by Stripe and card details are entered on Stripe's systems. Blopus never receives, processes or stores your card number. Stripe issues your receipts.

If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend the service until payment succeeds.

Discount codes

6. Usage caps and top-ups

What counts as a search. One search returns up to 10 results and costs 1 credit. Larger result sets are billed per block of 10 โ€” up to 50 results costs 5 credits. Your plan's monthly number is therefore a number of credits, not a number of requests, and a request asking for more results consumes more of your allowance.

Every plan has a hard cap. When you reach your monthly allowance, further calls stop and return a quota error until the allowance resets or you upgrade or buy a top-up.

We never bill you for overage. There is no metered charge above your plan. A runaway agent can exhaust your allowance, but it cannot create a bill you did not choose.

Top-ups are $5 for 1,000 additional searches and are consumed after your monthly allowance is used. Unused top-up credit remains available while your subscription is active.

7. Renewal, cancellation and refunds

8. Acceptable use

Do not use Blopus to:

Building your own application, agent or product that uses Blopus is exactly what the service is for and is fully permitted. What is not permitted is repackaging Blopus itself as a rival search API.

Competitive use, benchmarking and reverse engineering

Without our prior written consent, you may not:

If we reasonably believe an account is being used for any of these purposes, we may suspend or terminate it immediately under section 17, and no refund is due.

Reviews are welcome, and you do not need our permission. Nothing in this section stops you from evaluating Blopus for your own purchasing decision, writing a review, recommending it, or publicly sharing your opinion and experience, including criticism.

What needs our written consent is publishing measured benchmark figures or head-to-head performance comparisons. That is not to stop scrutiny. A benchmark run on the wrong plan tier, against a cold cache, or with an unrepresentative query set gives your readers a number that is simply wrong. If you want to publish figures, tell us and we will help you run it properly and give you the context. We will not unreasonably withhold consent.

9. License scope: personal or business

Blopus is licensed on two bases. Which one you need does not depend on how many people you are, or how many API keys you hold. It depends on who the licensee is and who receives the results.

 PersonalBusiness
The licensee isa named individual — youan organization: a company, agency, institution, or any legal entity
Results may reachyou, and nobody elsethird parties: your application’s users, your customers, your clients
Typical useyour own research, your own scripts, your own projects, freelance work you carry out yourselfa product or internal tool other people use, work performed for clients, anything an organization operates

Which one do I need?

Answer two questions honestly and the answer follows:

  1. Is the licensee a person or an organization? If a company, agency or institution is paying, benefiting, or would be the party to this agreement, that is Business — however few people are involved. Two developers at one company is still one Business license, not two Personal ones.
  2. Does anyone other than the licensee see the results? If Blopus output is shown to your application’s users, delivered to a client, or surfaced inside a product other people use, that is Business — even if you are a sole trader.

If both answers point to you alone, Personal is the right license and it costs what the published plan costs.

What Personal does not cover

What Business adds

Reselling the API as your own search product, or redistributing our index in bulk, is not included at any tier and needs a separate written agreement. Tell us what you need and we will put one in place.

Your account and your API keys

We do not charge per seat and we do not count how many of you there are. What we do require is that a personal license stays with the person it was issued to.

A business license is held by the organization rather than by an individual, so the people working for it are covered without anyone sharing a personal login.

If you are not sure

Ask us before you build. We would far rather size the right agreement with you than discover a mismatch later. Use that is materially outside your license is a breach of these terms and may lead to suspension under Suspension and termination; we will always raise it with you first.

10. Web content and third-party rights

Blopus operates a crawler that visits publicly accessible web pages, and builds a search index from them. We return links and short extracts so you can find and cite the source. This is how web search has always worked, and it sends traffic to the sites we index.

11. Removal requests and DMCA

If you own or operate a website and you want it removed from our index, or our crawler is causing you a problem, write to the address in our Privacy Policy. Tell us the domain and how you would like it handled. We aim to respond within 10 business days. There is no charge, there is no form to fill in, and you do not need a lawyer.

We can also reduce our crawl rate on your site, or stop crawling it entirely, if you would rather stay indexed but ease the load. Just ask.

Copyright claims

To submit a copyright notice under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, write to the legal address in Contact with: identification of the work, the URL where it appears in our service, your contact details, a statement of good faith belief, a statement made under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act, and your signature.

We remove or disable material in response to valid notices, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

12. Intellectual property

Ours: the Blopus software, crawler, index, ranking systems, SDKs, documentation, brand and site design belong to Blopus Labs LLC. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service, and nothing more.

Yours: your queries, your applications and your data remain yours. We claim no ownership of them, and we do not use your queries to train models.

13. Availability and support

We work to keep Blopus fast and available, but we do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee or service level agreement on self-serve plans. The service may be unavailable during maintenance, incidents, or events outside our control.

Support is provided through the console. Vibe Coder and Agentic Pro include priority handling. If you need a formal SLA, contact us about a custom agreement.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In particular, we do not warrant that search results will be complete, accurate, current, or suitable for any purpose, or that third-party content reached through the service is lawful or correct. Search indexes are inherently partial and the web changes constantly.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

16. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your use of content obtained through the service, except to the extent the claim is caused by our own wrongdoing.

17. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, including the competitive use restrictions in section 8, that puts the service or other customers at risk, or that has unpaid invoices. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

You may close your account at any time. On termination your right to use the service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law, continue to apply.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will give you notice by email or in the console at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, cancel before they take effect.

We will not change the price of a period you have already paid for.

19. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. The state and federal courts located in Collin County, Texas have exclusive jurisdiction, and both parties consent to that venue.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there.

Talk to us first. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us using the details in Contact. Most problems are solved quickly by email.
